Lumière sur SU Paris
Parisian luxury + Turkish craftsmanship?
You had me at hello . . .
Meet Eva Klaass, designer and founder of luxury resort wear label, SU Paris.
After many years of working as an Advertising Art Director for other fashion houses – including Hermès, Chanel, Printemps and Galeries Lafayette – Eva was looking for a new challenge. And with a CV like hers, we were all ears.
“I had an idea about creating my own brand with the philosophy of bringing French style to the beach – a brand exclusively dedicated to luxury resort wear.
“My husband and I were on the beautiful Bosphorus shores, where I was marveling at the legendary lightness and refinement of Peshtemal – the famous Hammam towel used in Turkish baths since the Roman Empire.
“I imagined a marriage between French chic and ancient Turkish craftsmanship and savoir-faire, where Parisian luxury was complemented with artisan techniques. And thus the idea for SU Paris was born!”
Featured in Vogue (Turkey), Madame Figaro (France), Harpers Bazaar (Turkey), Nylon (USA), and L’Officiel (Turkey), and loved by Marion Cotillard and Linda Evangelista alike, ‘Su’ (meaning ‘water’ in Turkish) signifies the brand’s dedication to creating timeless, luxury resort wear, to be worn by the water.
I.e. my kind of threads!
Incredibly light, these perfectly designed cover-ups are elegant and subtle, and will channel your inner Grace Kelly on the Riviera.
The craftsmanship is second-to-none and it's a wonderful feeling to know you're wearing something that has been produced in the same exceptional way for a verrry long time.
Caesar came, he saw, he conquered - and he left in SU Paris!
How did you find your craftsmen and producers?
Eva: We travelled all throughout Turkey, ending up in the most remote villages of Anatolia, where I met the most incredible craftsmen. They use the same artisan methods that have been used in Turkey baths for more than 2000 years and their level of craftsmanship still astonishes me. True genius.
Our Italian fabric producer is one of the best in the region and knows how to weave beautiful, luxurious and natural fabrics. Respecting artisan techniques and the beautiful fabric with which they are working, our craftsmen have helped me create a nomadic collection for a timeless chic.
The artisans we work with are amazing people and they are truly like family to us. We are growing together, hand-in-hand, and it’s a beautiful journey.
What are you most proud of with the business?
Eva: I am proud to have launched this brand from scratch, and to have loyal customers that keep coming back every season.
Yet most importantly, I am proud to create chic and comfortable pieces that will last a lifetime. I believe that a woman who feels good in her clothes feels immediately beautiful, and I hope we succeed in this.
And what’s next for Su Paris?
Eva: So, so much! Watch this space!
